I recently directed the music video for ‘Crockpot’ by Majorette. Taking inspiration from variety shows performances of the early 60’s, we decided to shoot directly to B&W 16mm film.
This was my first directorial project where I wasn’t also the cinematographer and I worked with Martin Parsekian who did an incredible job. Shooting at the BMCC’s theater allowed us full control over the lighting grid and Martin worked with Producer T. Michael Culhane and board controller Andrea Nagua to program lighting cues that would mimic the production of a live show. In addition to costuming, Danielle (Majorette) also developed the choreography for herself and backup dancers Natalie Field, Bean Field, and Chris Williams. The video is bookended by a great intro from Jordan Hope and beautifully animated credits by Nathan Mulroy . Thanks to Mono No Aware for providing the film stock, dev, and scan.
